02.06.2026

The reimposition of peace in the Middle East will strengthen the stability of Europe which is directly hit by the disrupted supply chains and particularly by the increased energy prices in consequence of the military operations in the region. This was stated by Prime Minister Rumen Radev at a meeting with the Minister of National Defense of the Lebanese Republic, Major General Michel Menassah, who is on a visit to Bulgaria.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Rumen Radev noted Bulgaria’s concern over the escalation of military action in different zones of the Middle East and stressed that diplomacy has no alternative to the achievement of a sustainable peace solution.

For his part, Defense Minister Michel Menassah stressed that the cessation of hostilities and the reestablishment of Lebanon’s sovereignty over the whole territory of the country is the Lebanese government’s major priority. Further, he expressed Lebanon’s expectation that the mandate of the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon – UNIFIL would be renewed.
