The High-level Meeting in the United States is taking place at a crucial moment for the international community that is facing numerous global challenges. This year’s session under the heading “Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights” gives prominence to the need to strengthen multilateralism through diplomacy, dialog and partnerships. The event in New York is a symbol of unity and pursuit of a more just, sustainable and peaceful world as participants underline the importance of the UN in building global cooperation.

This year Bulgaria celebrates the 70th anniversary as a committed UN member that actively promotes the core UN values. Bulgaria continues to be an advocate for peace based on the principles of sovereignty, human rights and rule of law. Bulgaria believes that the voices of young people shape our collective future, therefore their contribution is vital to build inclusive and sustainable societies. In this context, Bulgaria strongly supports the UN Youth Program and remains committed to actions of young people by initiatives like the Pact for the Future. Bulgaria views the UN80 Initiative as a timely opportunity to revitalize the Organization, enhance its accountability and effectiveness in advancing the Program until 2030. Its success will reaffirm our allied commitment to a predictable and rules-based multilateral order where no one is ignored.
