20.08.2025

Bulgaria is among the strongest and most active supporters for Ukraine’s European integration, based on the principle of its own merits. We stand ready to help Kyiv along its European path as we share valuable experience in the integration process. This was stated by Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov at his videoconference talk with Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.

Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov welcomed Ukraine’s strong commitment to key EU-related reforms, especially in the context of current geopolitical security challenges and the on-going full-scale Russian aggression. Bulgaria firmly believes that Ukraine’s future is within the European Union, and that European integration is a guarantee of prosperity in the entire region, the Prime Minister noted. Bulgaria supports the decision to open the first negotiation cluster, Rossen Jeliazkov emphasized as he highlighted the importance of the Ukrainian Action Plan on National Minorities, seeing it as an indispensable component for the opening of the first negotiation chapter.

Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov reiterated Bulgaria’s staunch support for Ukraine in the context of the war. We welcome all efforts that seek to achieve a lasting solution, including through the firm commitment of the administration of US President Donald Trump to end Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine, Mr. Jeliazkov pointed out. As he put it, the negotiations should be based on the principles of justice, sovereignty and security guarantees to ensure that peace is not just nonfighting but the basis for the long-term stability, security and prosperity of Europe and Ukraine.

Also, Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov emphasized Bulgaria’s willingness to be committed to the process of postwar recovery, reconstruction of reforms in Ukraine. The discussion touched, inter alia, on issues of regional energy security and transport connectivity.
