Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev: Next year’s budget is drawn up; Eurozone is priority

02.12.2024

Next year’s budget has been drawn up. The Ministry of Finance has communicated the measures planned so as to continue to maintain the 3% deficit which is our benchmark for accession to the Eurozone. This is what Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said as he spoke to reporters about the drawing up of the state budget. The Prime Minister pointed out that the bill cannot be submitted to a non-functioning Parliament.

The proposed budget will be submitted once the political situation becomes clear, Mr. Glavchev said further. As he put it, it would be best if a regular government is formed that would accordingly submit next year’s budget to Parliament. In the understanding of the Prime Minister, it would be risky to submit the budget bill in a pre-election situation as in such a case it could be blown up. We stand ready to address any option; we have brought up the measures to the attention of the political parties and now we are looking forward to the course that the situation will take, the Prime Minister said. To answer a media question, Mr. Glavchev said that at this time there is no risk of losing funds under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP).

Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev called on politicians in Parliament to find the right tone and to open negotiations that would first lead to the election of the Speaker of the National Assembly. Who would have imagined that such a situation might arise – after all the idea was to maintain the uninterrupted performance of the National Assembly, while it cannot start, Mr. Glavchev noted.

Today the Prime Minister attended the celebration of the 133rd anniversary of the establishment of the Military Medical Academy. Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev extended his congratulations to the hospital team. We all respect your professionalism and exceptional skills, the Prime Minister pointed out. Mr. Glavchev said further that an item on the budget for next year is reserved for the purchase of a special medical robot for the needs of the Military Medical Academy.
