22.01.2025

The common European defense policy, European competitiveness, the multiannual financial framework and the cohesion policy were discussed by Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov and the President of the European Council António Costa. At their meeting in Strasbourg, they talked about issues that are to be discussed within the framework of the upcoming informal and regular meeting of the Heads of State or Government of the EU countries.

“Of course, we discussed important issues related to the EU agenda regarding enlargement. We reaffirmed our position concerning the countries of the Western Balkans, viz., that we insist on the principle of their merits, as we have repeatedly and constantly stated,” Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov said further.

After the meeting in his answer to a media question about the released Bulgarian sailors, Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov said that the Bulgarian government is now doing all that needs to be done. The government airplane is on the way and will bring them back from Oman, the Prime Minister said.
