Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov and the President of the European Council António Costa visited the Arsenal military plant in Kazanlak as part of the effort to show the potentials of the Bulgarian defense industry. The purpose of their visit was to demonstrate the possibilities for development, modernization and enhancement of Bulgaria’s role in the building of the European defense capabilities.
During the visit, the Arsenal management staff presented the technology capacity of the plant, the main production facilities and the ongoing vigorous modernization steps. Emphasis was laid on the effort to boost the throughput of military industry as an important part of Europe’s ability to protect its values and strengthen its strategic self-reliance.
The visit of Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov and of the President of the European Council António Costa underlines the role of the Bulgarian defense industry as a strategic sector for the country’s national security and economic development. The development of enterprises such as Arsenal contributes to strengthen Bulgaria’s defense capabilities and to make it an active partner within the European Union. Special attention was given to the opportunities opened to Bulgaria’s industry through the new European Defense Industrial Strategy (EDIS) and the upcoming funding programs.
The modern approach to the development of defense industry includes, in addition to the expansion of the production potentials, the promotion of innovation and the establishment of sustainable supply chains in cooperation with our European partners.
