Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov: Polish Presidency reflects our shared commitment to a strong European Union

The excellent bilateral dialog and constructive cooperation between Bulgaria and Poland were the focus of the discussion between Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov and Poland’s President Andrzej Duda. At their meeting in the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov congratulated the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU on the achievements centered on European security. Your Presidency reflects our shared commitment to a strong European Union and we will continue to be a constructive partner to achieve this end, Rossen Jeliazkov pointed out.

 

The Prime Minister noted that Bulgaria is among the EU countries that allocate 2% of its Gross Domestic Product to defense. Also, Rossen Jeliazkov noted the government’s effort to develop the Bulgarian defense industry in the context of pan-European security.

 

Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov highly appreciated the active dialog between Bulgaria and Poland in various areas of mutual interest both bilaterally and within the EU, NATO and international organizations and initiatives. The Prime Minister stressed, inter alia, the potentials to develop trade and economic relations between the two countries. During the meeting, Rossen Jeliazkov specifically pointed out Bulgaria’s consistent steps towards accession to the Eurozone, which is a priority on which all institutions continue to work intensely.
