04.10.2024

What you did demonstrates more than high professionalism and experience; it demonstrates your humaneness and courage.” This appreciation was made by Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev at the awarding ceremony for the crews of the State Aviation Operator who were engaged in the evacuation of Bulgarian citizens from the Republic of Lebanon. The Prime Minister together with the Minister of Transport and Communications Krasimira Stoyanova personally awarded and thanked 18 people – pilots, flight coordinators, engineers and airhostesses.

Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said that his main requirement in the discussion of the situation was that the rescue operation should be safe not just for the passengers to be evacuated but also for the crew involved in the evacuation.

The Prime Minister thanked the Bulgarian and partner services and all who helped make the flights possible.

“You were perfect. Your performance constitutes a praiseworthy act and sets an example of how to respond in such situations,” Mr. Glavchev said further. He recalled that until now the State Aviation Operator (SAO) had been engaged in operations that evacuated a total 600 people.

The Minister of Transport and Communications Krasimira Stoyanova also expressed gratitude to the crews who were engaged in the two flights and underscored the professional performance of all SAO staff members. “What you are doing today is an outcome of massive training over the years and again shows how important crew instruction is,” Minister Krasimira Stoyanova stressed.
