Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev: Today and tomorrow: evacuation from Lebanon of last 25 Bulgarians

04.10.2024

The last twenty-five Bulgarian citizens who declared their wish to leave Lebanon and return to Bulgaria will be transported today and tomorrow. This was announced by Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev for the media after the meeting of the National Security Consultative Council. They will fly on board a Canada Air from Beirut to Istanbul and the transfer from the airport to the Consulate General of Bulgaria will be by car, he said further. Dimitar Glavchev said that the Bulgarian government knows about between 45 and 50 Bulgarian citizens in Iran and is ready to bring them home; however, so far none of them has applied.

The Prime Minister commented that currently there is no information of a refugee influx provoked by hostilities in the Middle East. The danger is potential; however, there is no increase of inflows and change of composition.

From the very first days of the new parliament, we are ready with a draft of the 2025 budget and can submit to the parties in a form that they find appropriate. I suggested that the government, which is the mover of the bill, should move it in advance to spare us the usual procedure that we witness when between the first and second reading exotic proposals are made to seek political gains, Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said. He recalled that the budget is 100% itemized and any idea to approve an increase for one item or another must justify to the detriment of which other item this would be done.
